Four family words (Oriental, Balsamic, Woody and Spicy) describe Faris Al Arab from Maison Asrar, a list dominated by cashmere wood and vanilla wood on top, cedarwood and amber in the heart, and labdanum below.
Notes as Maison Asrar lists them on its website, read on 24 October 2026.
How does Maison Asrar Faris Al Arab smell?
Much of the top is accords: an oriental accord (a blended impression of warm resin and spice), cashmere wood and vanilla wood (smooth, soft, slightly sweet timbers), and a liquorous accord, which suggests a boozy, syrupy, spirit-like sweetness. The heart adds cedarwood for dry structure, amber for resinous warmth and cane sugar for a clear, golden sweetness, so the sweetness is explicit from early on.
Tonka beans, labdanum, sandalwood and musk close the list. Labdanum is a dark, sticky resin, closely tied to the Balsamic family word; tonka beans add a soft, sweet-dry warmth, sandalwood contributes creamy wood, and musk smooths the edges. The likely result is a thick, sweet, woody and resinous perfume, with the boozy and sugary notes at the front and a dry, balsamic base.

The note list on FragranceGems' own product page names nothing that this list lacks.
