What patchouli is

Patchouli oil comes from the dried, fermented leaves of a tropical plant and smells earthy, woody, damp and sweet, with camphor and chocolate-like facets. A staple base note that adds depth and body. It pairs with rose, vanilla, oakmoss, amber and citrus, and works in chypre, oriental and woody structures, sometimes dark and sometimes clean and fresh.
